A hippy doofus once poisoned me with Hemlock. He mistook it for Wild Celery. I could only barely stand up and walk, and my vision was all out of wack.

For oleander, one should also avoid using it as firewood, especially to cook stuff over.

You mean Scopolamine, not Solanine. Deadly Nightshade contains Scolpolamine and Atropine. Solanine is found in the Nightshade genus Solanum. Solanum he same part of the nightshade genus that potatoes and tomatoes originate from.
Scopolamine is an acetacholine inhibitor, and is commonly used to treat upset stomach and nausea in low doses, but higher dosages leading up to the level of lethal dose cause among other things a highly suggestible dissociative hallucinogenic state that has been utilized by criminals to render victims defenseless. In those criminal circles It and similar compounds have gained the nickname "Devils Breath".
Due to some minor aagressive tendencies noted in subjects of scopolamine intoxication, the US Military did testing with similar dissociative acetacholine inhibitors, and tested a drug known as BZ or 3-Quinuclidinyl Benzilate on their own soldiers. (formerly listed as benzyl-quetapine when I first read into it 5 years ago.) Reports say that all the soldiers massacred each other believing they were fighting the enemy, but it is hard to discern fact from fiction when you study the field of the history of clandestine operations and coverups.

He probably said it sarcastically since you're technically not suffering from the pains of snake venom if you're dead.

Fun fact: dumbcane is known as "comigo-ninguém-pode" in portuguese, which means something like "no one can handle me". It is kept in gardens to ward off the evil eye.

Atropine is also a pharmacological medicine. In fact, it actually is an antidote for some chemical weapons by counteracting them.

while I appreciate the vast amount of information in 8:17, it would be nice to show more detailed photos of each DEADLY plant. The flash photo at the beginning shows nothing, at least that anyone could ever see, or comprehend in one tenth of a second and the final shot always seemed to be out of focus. Appreciate the info though

Pliny the Elder didn't say to eat oleander to cure snake bites. It's a topical. The same way that you put chewing tobacco onto snake bites or bee and wasps stings to draw out, absorb, and neutralize the venom.
