Also make sure you're dealing with a reputable honest coin dealer.

I've got to call BS on you on your comment about getting the premium back when buying fractional gold. Have you ever tried to sell fractional bullion? Look online at the dealers who publish their buy-back prices... they do NOT give you an extra premium for the 1/10 oz or 1/4 oz gold coins. In fact, some will give you a lower premium on the fractionals per ounce than the full ounce coins. And, I've bought several fractional coins via my Craigslist add for just spot. Buying fractional modern bullion coins with their premium is just throwing your money down the drain. If you want fractional bullion, buy old circulated Sovereigns or Francs as close to spot as possible (I recently picked up some with an eBay promo at 90% of spot).

did you do a video on that 1 gram gold coin? I bought a 1/2 gram similar to that and it was not a good investment, but I did want to own it.

sovereign are by far the best as in many countries they are capital tax exempted. Also easy to sell, all dealers know what is. Cant really go wrong with it.

While fractional coins are great for the small private/home investor the markup on 1/10th ounce and lower IMHO is just too high - even for the casual investor saving for his old age or securing some money for worse times. Quarter ounces seems a much better choice with only very marginal price difference for 4 quarters vs 1 full - which for the casual investor is negligible. Amounting to only 1/3 of a gram of the spot price for gold (for me locally at the time of writing) where as buying 1 ounce of 1/10th Krugerrand's costs even more than buying 4 quarters and a 1/10th - 1/10th more gold for even a little less than buying in 1/10th's - quite a significant amount. So IMHO don't go lower than quarters. Minting quality on quarters is usually a little better too if you like nice coins :)

Would of been helpful what spot price at the time of making this. You say 660 for a half that's at spot. All dealers are selling with premiums. So most any halfs are around 700 with a premium. I sure spot in January was 1,300

Nice video. It's always a pain trying to explain to people what some of the not so common coins are when selling. Seems like everyone knows what eagle's, maple's and kruggerrand's are.

Firstly , Strong intro .👍
Beautiful coins , I really enjoy looking at them but my Brain will not allow me to buy them.
I walk into my local shop with the intention of getting some but always walk out with a 1 oz gold bar with the lowest premium.
I guess I am just really tight and just want to reduce my stack cost price Average . Thanks
