Hydrogen bonding can be so confusing, and in this video we talk about some common mistakes. Hydrogen bonds are intermolecular forces between molecules. They form because one atom has a high electronegativity, so it gets a partial negative charge, and the hydrogen gets a partial positive charge.

Honestly I come here everyday after lecture and search to see if you have any videos covering the material we “learned” in class. I always understand things after! Thank you so much!

I love this guy.
REAL MEN RULE!!

He just CRUSHED this, and at the same time CRUSHED SMART TECHNOLOGY by simply having already prepared white pieces of paper with molecules, sitting on other molecules, draw on one, remove and same one underneath, ha ha, CLEVER BRO!!
...................
and writing on white pieces of paper, and re-using them to label molecules, ha ha... there is no technology (programming) that wouldnt cost a fortune to code this functionality , and he did CHEAPLY & EFFECTIVELY with HIS GOD GIVEN BRAIN , markers and creativity and blank white paper, ha ha ha

This is my brother from another mother ✌👍👍

I still don’t understand how hydrogen can bond to a second oxygen molecule if it’s sharing it’s only electron with the first oxygen. Even if it has a positive charge it still has no electron to make a bond.

6:06 why can't you have two hydrogen bonds? There's another delta+ H, that could connect to the O.

since Oxygen is electronegative, wont it hog the carbon electrons as well? Then the carbon atoms will have a sight +ve charge on them, but they do not attract towards other slightly -ve oxygen atoms, can someone explain this to me?

Unfortunately, one of the ugly realities of science is that paradigms never admit they are wrong--even when it is obvious.
