About :

What you do to your hair and newgrowth before your relaxer touchup is important to prevent relaxer damage. Here are 4 ways to prepare and protect your hair before your perm to get flawless results and reduce the risk of over-processing your hair.

Relaxers, just like hair color/dyes/bleach, can damage your hair if its not done properly.

Choosing to use a chemical relaxer is a personal choice. I don't judge people for changing their natural hair color or their natural hair texture. It's your hair and your body, do what works for you.

All the years I had a beautician to do a relaxer when I was living in Denver, no one put a base on my scalp. My hair is so coarse and thick that it takes two relaxing treatments within two weeks of each other. Remember the Ultra Sheen Super or Revlon Super relaxers?

This was a really great tutorial thanks! I’m going to apply all of these recommendations. Follow-up question though — you mentioned you condition your new growth 2 days before, but when do you do the grape seed oil, base cream, and serum? My hairdresser has burned my forehead and different perimeter areas so I’m looking forward to trying the cream. Thanks again!

I tried to relax my friend's hair yesterday I used swallow hair straightening product .while applying the product I noticed that my hands feels like burning though I'm using gloves and immediately rinse my friends hair I started from the nape of her hair but sadly her hairs leads to breakage :( can anyone answer me if how to prepare the swallow hair relaxer? Cause I used it's directly to her hair without mixing cause it has no mixing procedure inside the jar. :(

love your hair vlogs, I've learned so much about caring for my relaxed hair. However, I'm a black woman of a certain age and with my hair aging I really have to pay special attention to my ends. I stop coloring my hair about 15 years ago. I premature grayed in my late teens in which I started coloring in my early 20's.
Now I'm 54 semi-color free and my hair is healthier than ever and with trying your techniques my has really improved in the past year.
Thanks again Ms Kibbie

I am so grateful for your hair knowledge I have dry hair issues and was not aware of the problems resulting from dry hair. I have a sensitive scalp and so with each relax i experienced scalp burns. Looking back at my experiences knowledge is key and I lacked all of the knowledge lol.

I have a pretty tough scalp and I wash my hair the day before I relax, I've never had scalp burns or irritation and I base my perimeter only . I do prep my hair in 4 sections and then section each of those into twists starting after the new growth so i have all my parts and I don't have to part while I'm relaxing. I coat all of the twists heavily in coconut oil.

Would you ever consider going natural, you're almost there lol..then you could blow dry and then use straighteners which my friend does once a month-that way you have the best of both worlds.

I actually put neutralizing shampoo on the previous relaxed hair just before I apply relaxer. The night before I apply castor oil or petroleum jelly. Works for me...!

I truly appreciate the tops, as relaxer time has become depressing for me. My scalp is SUPER sensitive to where I can't even tug at my hair for at least 5 days prior to my relaxer. For this reason, I relax every 3-4 months. I have found though, that basing my scalp the night before relaxing is extremely helpful. I will not irritate if it's done the night before rather than a few minutes prior to the relaxer.
