About :

Feeling dizzy whilst suffering with anxiety is one of the more disruptive symptoms and is often mentioned as being “the one symptom that I can’t get a handle on”.

Feeling like your on a boat, feeling lightheaded, woozy and off balance. Anxiety and panic can produce these symptoms and sensations and here we'll talk about why.

Here we take an in-depth look at the sensations of dizziness, lightheadedness or feeling off balance, how anxiety can make these occur and how we can reduce the feelings.

Of course, any kind of dizziness can be a sign of something more serious, but we’re not even going to go there, we’re assuming that you have been told by your GP that you are suffering with anxiety, and the dizziness that is associated with stress and anxiety is not dangerous!

Press on even when things are uncomfortable. I like that! Don’t let your anxiety stop you from living.

I was panicking just thinking about it and reading other comments. When he said "it is not dangerous". I suddenly felt calmer.

I’m lucky tho, because I can tell I’m going to faint before it happens, I usually sit down right away & try to force so I don’t pass out, I always get scared and I think “is my body trying to have a seizer?” It’s like my brain goes heavy/light in the weird way & everything moves weird. It’s just a really terrifying feeling & I really hope I can get over this. I don’t want to faint anymore

This has been happening to me for awhile now, I thought maybe it was low blood sugar but I’m 90% sure it’s my anxiety, I had anxiety all my life since I was 5-6 but it was never bad like this, and have no clue what’s triggering me to worry so much. I really can’t stand the fainting and trying not to faint, it’s scary & I can’t take it 😩 I’m 18 going o be 19 in 11 days & I just want to relax & enjoy life. But with me keep having to worry and think “omg am I going to faint in front of all these people” al the time it’s hard 💔

I have the anxiety dizziness as well I’m only a 16 year old male and this happens mostly at school but sometimes it can happen anywhere else too when I get the dizziness I close my eyes and I can’t open them again because my vision goes very very funny and my head spins around like crazy I can’t walk or even sit down with it properly when I get the dizziness I just want only one place to be and it’s in my bed when I stand or sit especially when I’m somewhere that’s not home I just feel like I’m going to fall and faint and also when I feel the dizzy feeling my eyes twitch when I try and open them which is why I have them closed and also I usually can’t hear well either so I think mine is a combination of things from my anxiety. I have had this dizziness feeling for just over 5 years now it’s scary and horrible. :/

I have OCD and GAD and a panic attack disorder, I have been feeling very dizzy and nauseous lately and I have been having panic attacks a few times a day. These symptoms are on and off one minute I’m fine but the next minute I’m dizzy for a good hour. I am nervous I have cancer but my physiologist says it’s just anxiety. Has anyone else had this problem I am freaking out

Anyone else sit down for a while and feel really fragile and just different. You feel like any pain is even worse than it should be, it’s so hard to explain. But say you get a slight pain in your heart you get way more scared for a second than you normally do

For years I’ve had consistent dizziness and lightheadedness along with double vision and strain on my eyes. Disorientation. Name if I’ve got it. But I’ve took every test even a mri. And nothing. So I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. It sucks. Even when I know it’s anxiety it’s like my body and mind say no there’s something wrong with you. I’ve gotten kind of used to it. Some days it’s bad and some days good. But I assure you all it’s okay and you will get through it.

My parents don't think anxiety is a disorder so they refuse to let me get treatment but then shout at me when I don't talk to people. I am experiencing my first dizzy spell now and I was so confused and scared that I was about to have a panic attack.

Edit: I went to a therapist today! 😀

If this started for you in late April (or around that time) when the seasons changed. I know it's going to sound stupid, but drink A LOT of water. Like 100 oz. of water for a day and then scale it back/up to at least 75% your weight in ounces and see if you don't start feeling better quickly (for me, 2 days I was noticeably feeling less dizzy). An easy test to tell if this is what's causing your dizziness is to start off by drinking an entire bottle of water right now and if you get the most amazing relief feeling in your head when you finish it, you're dehydrated (stupid right? but now you know) and if you drink 75%-80% of your weight in ounces for the next week and keep that up you should be ok (don't go overboard though, water-poisoning is a thing). This is what is currently happening with me and after 4 days of drinking A TON of water every day (yeah you're going to pee a lot) I feel so much better. Every once in a while a dizzy spell will hit me, but that used to occur what seemed like every minute (for months), now it's every couple of hours, my eyes can focus on things again, I'm starting to feel back to normal.

Allergies are also a possibility. Food sensitivity tests could help narrow down foods which may be causing unnecessary anxiety in your body but if you can, I would recommend seeing an allergist first and see what they have to say about that.

It's also possible that you have inner ear damage and your body can longer compensate for it's loss. In this case, you'll need to see an ENT (possibly a vertigo specialist) and have them test your inner ear. If this is the case, you'll need physical therapy to re-train your brain which can take months, but is treatable.

And of course, Anxiety is a possibility. CBD is legal everywhere and has shown positive results for anxiety relief, I use green mountain cbd, it's good and cheap (some companies can get very pricy), you can learn more about cbd through reddit - cbd. Just know that if you want to go this route that full spectrum and NOT isolate has shown to be more beneficial for anxiety. Of course, If your anxiety is really bad you may need to be prescribed something like an anti-depressant by your doctor for when it gets really bad, like a full on attack bad. I've had little to no success with meditation and breathing exercises but my brother and mom swear by them, look into these or talk to a doctor, therapist or someone qualified about them if this is an appealing option to you.

It's possible you're feeling anxiety and one of the above things can help greatly reduce/increase it. For example, water may help you but dehydration could also just be a trigger for your anxiety to throttle you. I'm not a doctor, I've just seen a lot of them about this and everyone of them will tell you dizziness is a complicated symptom of something else (unless it's an inner ear thing/vertigo issues, then that's the issue) and they don't really know how to treat it.

EDIT UPDATE - ADDITIONAL POSSIBILITIES - Through more research I've also found out about these eye conditions called Heterophoria or Binocular Visual Dysfunction. If you notice that your eyes become unfocused constantly after blinking or just throughout the day (it may also feel as if your eyes are moving extremely quickly and then resetting) you may have this or some subset of this. This is an ocular problem where the alignment muscles in your eyes are to strained and cannot relax in order to heal properly or their is some disconnect between the alignment muscles of your eyes and your vestibular system causing dizziness. Typical symptoms include headache, head tilt, dizziness, lightheaded, motion sickness, poor depth perception, unsteadiness, losing your spot while reading constantly, anxiety and more. Feel free to lookup the disorders for additional symptoms and info but IT IS correctable through an eye care specialist and a physical therapy type treatment. This is also a condition that is often overlooked by medial professionals because the standard vision alignment tests are not sensitive enough to find these subtle misalignments. Most Optometrist don't have the equipment to test this. You'll probably need to see an Ophthalmologist or even a Nuero-Ophthalmalogist.

The things I've listed above are starting points to help get started, I've been dealing with it for 3 months, it's awful, anything I can do to help you i will and if anyone knows something else to try, please add to this.

You make some decent points cheers buddy!! I’m starting to control my anxiety a bit with daily cardio workouts drinking loads of water but I still get dizzy sometimes all day even when my breathings fine,,,I can understand people getting dizzy when there hyperventilating but why when your breathings fine like u said tho could be a number of things,,,the annoying thing is because it makes me anxious I then do actually bring on other anxiety symptoms like short of breath all the rest so I guess I just gotta learn that it’s not dangerous, press on regardless and try not to get anxious when this lightheaded feeling kicks in? Cheers man cool vid

I once suffered with anxiety attacks, but I found out I was just really dehydrated, I didn't drink water. I started drinking at least 8 glasses of water and the anxiety went away...so simple right..but most people dont even like water. I know I didnt. Try it. But you must make it a habit and give it time to work. DRINK WATER EVERY DAY PEOPLE.

I would never kill myself but just the fact that the thought pops up in my head thinking things would be better if I just didn’t exist cause then I wouldn’t have to deal with it is truly a scary thing but if any of you are dealing with this and have found please let me know I will truly trulyyyy be so appreciative of you I just want to live my life and do good in the world but I’m house bound and miserable. I just want to say that I had panic attacks and anxiety and MOST of it was caused by food intolerance. It sounds crazy and that is why it took me so many years to figure it out. I stopped eating gluten and within days the physical symptoms had gone away. I then took a food sensitivity test and found a few more.. I'm not saying that it will work for everyone at all but if you have really bad physical symptoms that you think are caused by anxiety (at least for me I thought they were but it was the symptoms causing the anxiety) then please maybe try to give up gluten for a few days and see if it will help. I've been there and it is so tough going through it. I would hate to be back in that place.
