its a pity toys R us is doing so poorly. sure its easier to just go to amazon or whatever to buy toys but why? I mean toys R us has a webstore with free shipping for practically nothing. tho it almost seems to me that the webshop is far more cheaper than the actual store. tho I suppose at least they could make some money by selling that stuff ridiculously cheap, because as if it would matter. they are going to garbage after the doors close. so just cash in one last time, try to sell them with minimalistic prices. ten or more for a dollar. try make at least enough money to get shit faced afterwards.

As a kid, if you like Star Wars and you go into a store to buy the toys, where do you begin? There's far too much crap and so many different size figures. I guess Kenner/Hasbro didn't learn from the thousands of Batman variations in the nineties.

You might want to examine the leveraged buyout of Toys R Us which is what what really caused it's problems.

Hate to tell you but walmart is hurting when it comes to star wars toys . I have 3 walmart stores near me and all have tons on clearance and it's just sitting there and now the new avengers stuff is sitting there. I've picked up a few items but the industry isn't what it was . Crap merchandise plus flooding the stores and in some cases crap movies. I have heard mgm is looking at buying toys r us but it's still a maybe. I think people would rather pay a few bucks more and sit at home .

This hurts my heart so much. I remember my mom bringing me into toys r us every time I got a good report card. Those were the days Iโ€™d run down those aisles and go bonkers with other kids. If I decide to have kids Iโ€™d love them to experience something like that.

I wish I was a Toys R Us kid, but when I was a kid, there wasn't a Toys R Us anywhere near where I lived. My parents bought my toys at this local department store called Jamesway, which went out of business in 1994.

Do you guys know why the show Young Justice failed? It's because the majority of the audience was female. That's not a bad thing, in fact I would've killed for more girls to be into yugioh or pokemon when I was a kid. However the execs shut the show down because they knew the girls would never buy the toys meant for young males, and the low male viewing ratio compared to female would mean that merchandise would never sell . For such a large company Disney certainly seems to be stupid. Their merchandise is dying out because they're making toys meant for nobody, true I like the fact that more women like Star Wars, but they actively shot themselves in the foot by purposely making Star Wars more female centric with their merchandise. Little boys just don't want that type of stuff, and their the primary demo that buys Star Wars toys. By alienating this demo, their toy sales are going down the shitter. This screams overconfidence on Disney's part.

I went to the local Toyrus in SoCal today to grab SW toys (I know I am late), tbh except those shitty foam blades, bladebuilders and legos that have no discount, everything is almost gone. Not a single black series SW figure is left, the big troopers and animatronic SW chars are sold out only 1 giant kylo ren left, no bb8, no r2d2, no rey, no poe. Then i walked to the superhero film series aisles. Guess what I saw, piles and piles of Vision/hawkeye playmotions. Even blackwidow is sold out. Numerous of Aquaman figures, WWs (no batman and superman). So imo at least in that store SW mechandise is still selling ok. Of course this is during a giant sale, but I would say the marvel DC sides are probably worse ...

This is no doubt a symptom of the problem, but also I should like to point out the people who bought the toy store liquidated it as an asset so that it would go belly-up and flop. They had the power to take these stale toys which WEREN'T selling and give them the hook and at least tried to revive the business with more relevant toy lines.

The other problem is outsourcing and near-sourcing. These and online shopping...they've made the brick-and-mortar store model largely outdated and mostly inaccessible to smaller players in the market that aren't specialized while being in demand, which in itself is a tall order indeed to meet. Retail stores are going extinct...it's creepy like Orwell's 1984 is the tip of the iceberg of what's coming to pass.

On top of this, walmart, amazon, ebay, and other stores have invaded the market and seemingly can't be competed against.

It has caused this evolution and created the perfect storm. One which this store could not survive.

Toy R Us closed this week. It was a good run, I have fond memories of you as a kid...last time I went in was more than half my life ago now to buy Marvel VS Capcom for playstation...and while my homie was borrowing it some degenerate we both knew lifted it, probably to sell it for weed. I reluctantly let go of the jewel case and instruction booklet for it several months ago.

I digress... This is a sign of things to come.

I love your videos because at least you and I are on basically the same page in a madhouse of a world.

I think every star wars movie after the original three , ESPECIALLY DISNEY , F'N SUCKS ! I watched three Disney movies always hoping the next would be better , I WONT BE GOING TO THEATRE TO BE TRICKED INTO THEIR CRAP AGAIN ! Three strikes , YOUR OUT ! Star wars is dead! Stupid humor , stupid goofy characters in "war" , female character strength feels deliberately forced ! So bad!

Lucas messed up his second three films also , since phantom.

Star wars needs to go SERIOUS , or die !

kids are more interested in harry potter franchise. kids go crazy with harry potter merchandise. they just go past star wars and straight to HP. i've seen that happen at some stores. HP is far more friendly for kids at this point and doesn't have any political bullshit involved. good vs evil. simple as that. like sw used to be.

What the problem is that the Mickey mouse robots building this shit are on auto after a trade dispute between the astromech army and the avengers Jarvis Ultrons. Now as the dust settles the droids will come out of the debris and begin once again building Bishop figures to assault the oncoming tide of devastation caused by the leftover Jurassic park lines still holding strong with WWF mechs based on Hulk Hogan and The macho man who they still believe is alive in hiding because of the coming apocalysps because of all the Todd McFarland walking dead statues coming to life and bombarding Disneyland with Neegan troopers. Who run on autopilot with 'secret song' from Air supply 'every woman in the world'

I like Rey, and wanted a female lead for episode 7,8, and 9, they just didn't make any alien figures for episode 7 or 8 because they're weren't any aliens? in episode 7 or 8 or they just didn't make figures for them, which is on hasbro

Had fun watching this two weeks ago, I thought Iโ€™d watch again. I remember in 1977 when I was 9 y.o. just wanting 1 action figure and then learning how long it was going to take on a chore wages to collect the expanding choice of overpriced figures. Heck, I couldnโ€™t keep up with all the many things competing for my attention like the new Atari 2600, let alone stacking quarters on Arcade games. Basically I was SOL having frugal parents, at an age where I couldnโ€™t get a job, had no disposable income and the only option left was knocking on strangers doors, collecting recycling bottles... and still never even came close. Only topped my collection at 5 figures. Ah well.

Nothing about this holds any water man. In general toy sales (all toys not just star wars) are on the decline. Also all of the toys your looking at are junk novelty kind. The crap that nobody wants and has never really wanted. Why didn't you go look at the 3 1/4 inch figures? In terms of Star Wars toys, those are ALWAYS the holy grail.

And the infinity games...C'mon man that stack was for the Wii U which was a massive failure of a system. It also last gen shit, so it's junk no matter what.

Do something else with your life that makes sense.

3.75 inch action figures is the standard, hasbro strayed away from that with Guardians of the galaxy movie figures, age of ultron figures were mini 2inch figures
star wars rebels figures were 30 inches tall? wtf? I think some idiot at hasbro forgot a period in the numbering and they were supposed to be 3.75 inches but someone forgot the period and they were as tall as some kids. and now everything is either 6 inches or 12 inches? these aren't dildoes, they are action figures, you have to be able to hold them in your hand to play with!

Last time I was in Wal-Mart there toy section was off the hook. To put it in context, 20 years ago I had to buy gifts for my young daughter and I went to Toys R Us to find the perfect gift. Now, some 20 years latter I have a young nephew and Wal-Mart and Target allow me to shop for him without having to make an extra trip to Toys R Us which may or mayย  not be close and for me basically has the same stuff. I'm sure toy aficionados and people with a taste for nostalgia will be sad Toys R Us Is though but really a lot of people assumed Toy R US was already out of business...I know I did. Its like finding out an actor you know from a movie in 1950 us still alive or just died

You're definitely right & on-target when you say that it's just not the same experience buying something online as it is buying in a store, especially for a kid. There's just something about holding a particular item or product in your hand (could be a toy or anything), looking at it, checking the details, the size, weight, how well-made it is, etc., that you just don't get with online shopping. (Instead, you're basically buying blind, keeping your fingers crossed & hoping for the best.) It was the same when I was a kid & would sometimes buy stuff through mail-order (from Johnson Smith, to give a clue how old I am) and it was never quite as satisfying as buying a toy in a store; never. (Plus, a couple of companies I bought from sold crap & I basically got ripped off, but that's a whole 'nother story...)
