If someone manages to stumble across this wall of jumbled text that has no real structure or a coherent thought process, I’m sorry. After 7 months, I have a lot of things I want to express about this movie and I just want to put my thoughts down.
First off, the characters. The only two characters I enjoyed in the movie are B.D. Wong and Toby Jones’ characters. B.D. Wong has been so enthusiastic about his role in the series it’s hard to not like him. Toby Jones actually looked like he was enjoying playing his role. Plus Goldblum. I almost forgot about him being in this movie, which unfortunately says a lot.
On the other hand, the cinematography was amazing and I really appreciated how they went for a suspenseful/horror vibe. It was just the characters that really ruined it for me, which is a damn shame, because I was hyped as hell for this movie.
And I’m not even a big Jurassic Park/World fan. I didn’t grow up watching Jurassic Park, so I’m not even expecting much. The first movie was pretty good and it holds up extremely well and everything after that for me is just... eh. I liked Jurassic World when it came out because it had an updated cast and some pretty clean visuals but after a while I realized it was the same as all the other movies. So when Fallen Kingdom started being promoted, I was glad and excited to see that they were taking a different direction with this. The final trailer (which spoils the entire movie) got my full attention and actually still holds up as one of my favorite trailers. But the movie was such a letdown because while the movie looked gorgeous and the practicality of it all stood out and the mansion scene held up well suspense wise, the characters and their decisions completely ruined it for me. And that’s coming from me, one who at this point only watches this franchise for visuals and tone. I don’t necessarily care about character motivation or actual story (like I said, it’s all the same to me) but the characters in this movie are legitimately terribly written and are so one dimensional it’s hard to look at from a film enthusiasts standpoint. I’d hate to have Jurassic Park be one of my favorite franchises—like the majority of people here do—and just have this film completely go off the rails in terms of story and characters. I don’t envy you that much, honestly.
Sorry for the long rant in this random review that was released like over half a year ago. I’m bored and I stumbled across this video again since after it came out and I just suddenly needed to get my thoughts out, so sorry for the randomness.
Oh and btw, I enjoyed this movie when it came out. Because I was so hyped for the final act of the film (the mansion), I was just glad I was finally getting it, so I just tuned out everything else. I watched it again with a friend a couple days after and yeah, once I’ve seen it and the hype died down I saw how many flaws reeked throughout.
While I do understand why Chris Stuckmann was disappointed in this movie, I also feel that since he can be a bit of a prick as shown be his reviews of X-Men Origins and Kong: Skull Island that he kind of deserves to be ignored with his opinion on the movie.
This movie is so STUPID. my braincell died watching this shit show. Its a horrible film. This movie ack like a looney toon film. Its so horrible.. what the hell is this film.
Yeah they tried to capture the vipe from the very first movie and copied to many scenes. It wasn t awesome but not bad, for me they still managed to deliver kind of the same spirit as the first one, which I enjoyed.
This one felt too bland for me. Though honestly the whole movie I was in the camp of "Let the dinosaurs just die, it's better off that way" And thinking at the end "Does nobody remember that oh I don't know, traumatic experience where thousands died and many were injured? Does nobody really think about how these things will damage human society?" And the villains were pretty predictable, pretty much got their roles down to a t when they were first introduced.
It was best in it's last act, until the final scene.
I just felt like they stopped trying. Too many forced scenes like the one where the "Paleoveteranarian" (SMH) picks up the gun like she was going to do something and then backs down like the Mercs initiated the threat. All she had to do was nothing. It was as if they were trying to showcase the potential strength a female character can have while, on the flip side, how feminine a man can be and it just came accross as a cheap SJW ploy. Kinda felt half ass. That and all of the incredibly predictable moments had me kinda waiting for the end of the movie instead of anticipating the outcome. I'm not sad I watched it but I'm not interested in ever watching it again.
J.w fallen kingdom is just BETTER than the first one. I could go on 1000 reasons why jur. Park is great but fallen kingdom is even grater but not right now. Truth hurts i know but tbh this movie did everything j.p did but better . It doesnt make the first bad no not in any case but its just one of the sequels that surpasses the original
I just watched it, I liked it a lot and it kept me engaged. The idea of dinosaurs 🦕 crying left behind for the lava to kill it was so heart breaking. I live dinosaurs 🦖
I hate myself for spending $28 dollars on this garbage. NOTHING about this movie was good. The story line, the thing with the little girl(weird), the music score(if there really was one), the tech dude was useless, ok enough with the engineered dinosaurs. There's PLENTY of different species that are bad ass to begin with why try and make a killing machine when so many of them were??? They just need to stop with this
Finally watched the movie...it’s trash. I thought the first Jurassic world would be bad and it was actually really good. Thought it’d be more of the same but NOPE
Best to Worse: 1. Jurassic Park: The Lost World (CG/CGI=Excellent, Story=Excellent) 2. Jurassic Park (CG/CGI=Excellent, Story=Excellent) 3. Jurassic Park III (CGI=Excellent, Story=Good) 4. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (CGI= Excellent, Story=Lame) 5. Jurassic World (CGI= Excellent, Story=Lame) Why is Fallen Kingdom better than World 2015? It's Lame as the first World but it has more action... and some emotion parts are much better...
It's horribly written, the characters are shit, it's predictable as hell, the cinematography is laughably generic. The characters are not only horrible, but stupid to the point of disbelief. And finally, the plot is far too ridicilous, even for a sequel to Jurassic World. To top it all off, Jeff Goldblum is in it for no more than five minutes, for the sole reason to put him in the trailers. This is undoubtedly, one of the most disgusting movies out there, because it's clear as day, that there is not a single ounce of passion behind it, and it's only purpose is to make money.
I usually agree with Jeremy so I settle to watch certain movies he reviews as so-so later on, but I regret it. This movie and 47 Ronin were great. I wouldn’t have minded paying to see in theatres.
