About :

Not yet well publicized in the general or medical communities, many chronic symptoms such as sinusitis, dizziness (or vertigo), ear pain, jaw pain, nasal blockage/stuffiness, facial pain/pressure, eye pain/pressure, tinnitus, abnormal or bad taste or smell, runny nose and many others may be migraine-related and therefore may be alleviated with the same treatment options as migraine headaches. Unfortunately, many patients and doctors alike are unaware of this connection.

Because a relation to migraine disease is not usually suspected, these symptoms are often not treated properly. Many people receive antibiotics, allergy and other medications and occasionally surgery. These medicines may seem to be effective temporarily because the symptoms naturally disappear (as traditional migraines do) but then return again.

Migraine disease is a condition that most commonly affects women. It may be affected by changes in estrogen levels.

A new organization, the Association of Migraine Disorders has been created to get the word out and to help fund research in this important migraine-related area of neuroscience.

Please visit our website to learn about the symptoms, causes and treatments of migraine disorders. There is a lot of helpful information on our site, and with it we hope to end the suffering of many patients who have been unaware of the possible connection of their symptoms to migraine disease. Migraines - More than a headache...

***The mission of the Associaiton of Migraine Disorders is to raise the medical and general public's awareness of this condition and to stimulate increased research in this area of neuroscience.***

MORE INORMATION:
Migraine Disorders are a spectrum of neurologic conditions which may have a common genetic and physiologic cause. Although most people associate a "migraine" with a headache, the same underlying faulty nerves that cause this head pain can also affect those nerves that line our sinuses, teeth and ears.

This hypersensitivity of the nervous system can interrupt the normal way that we see the world, maintain our balance, hear, smell and taste. This problem may be affecting other parts of the brain that control our body temperature and our mood, our ability to sleep, to think and to remember. It may be the same neuropathy that causes fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, cyclic vomiting.

Think of this problem as a malfunctioning electrical relay switch. The information from sensory nerves is being distorted, or overly amplified, on its way to the brain. That neural error may be an inherited defect which comes and goes throughout life depending on changing factors, such as hormonal shifts.

List of potential symptoms: migraine, atypical migraine, neuropathiy, dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, ataxia, abnormal smell, phantom smell, phantosmia, bad taste, abnormal taste, dysgeusia, sinusitis, sinus infections, sinus pain, nasal blockage, nasal stuffiness, nasal congestion, runny nose, rhinorrhea, facial pain, cheek pain, eye pressure, eye pain, facial pressure, difficulty driving, spinning, mal de debarquement, aphasia, allodynia, light sensitivity, auditory processing disorder, depression, sensitivity to touch and more...These are just some of the ones in the head and neck... I'm going through all of this. My head feels like it's going to split open. Antibiotics don't work. What is topamax?

I have attempted and tested the dizziness vertigo solution “great joko space” (Google it); it`s beneficial. There is certainly definitely a difference when I use it compared to when I I forgot about taking it. I have common concerns with dizziness and this item really does help me function. earlier days, my head is apparent and I’ve had no outbreaks since.

Intense deep pain in my neck and creeping up my skull. Nausea started and vomit. While vomiting the pain got a bit of relief but doubled after that. Three days and I would be begging to die! One day relief and back to migraine. Found a book in a sale, almost left it in the shop but thought I might learn something. It was called three steps to controlling your headaches by David Buchold. Best $10 I ever spent, took a whole year on his diet putting things back and found bananas the worst culprit, not eating regularly, sun on my head. Been migraine free for the last 7 years, would not have believed it if I was told it. But I thank this man out of the bottom of my heart, he gave me my life back

I am trying to figure out what I'm having now. As a small child I had gone to the doctors for something, they didn't know if it was a seizure or migraine. After tests they found out it was just bad migraines. Well I grew out of them. But in 6th grade I was told I had a vestibular problem and they gave me exercises to do, I didn't do them because I was young and thought it was dumb. But now being 22. When I was 19 I started getting dizzy, I thought it was motion sickness but it would happen all the time. Then I got a sinus infection for a year straight. Had my wisdom teeth out and it went away. But since then I've had the dizziness happen more often. It doesn't feel the same all the time but it's dizziness. I've also got ringing in the ears and ill feel like there's a cotton ball in my ears. My head will feel like it vibrates or someone came and is shaking it. I went to the university of Colorado, the anschutz outpatient pavilion and saw a doctor and now I go back in a month to do a vestibular balance test because my doctor there thinks it's migraines without the headache...

I can relate to all of these people. This is terrible that so many people have to live like this day-to-day. As a child it is horrible!!

Don't forget to get some marajuana . I take inderal la 160 mg daily , great stuff , Zoloft is the new one 50 mg , and of course Imitrex . I almost forgot Benadryl and Advill. Inderal prevents , Benadryl helps with nausea , Advill for neck pAin , Imitrex is my rescue med. the weed counteracts all of the side effects from meds and stops the nausea very quickly . I have been dealing with this issue that dictates my life since 1975. That's a whole lot of pain all the while raising 3 sons and a career as a nurse . This sounds nuts but ever since I've had to take the Zoloft I wonder if the migraines have caused brain damage over the decades ?????? And yes my sons all suffer from this affliction.

I wish I could connect with these people. I feel so alone with this ridiculous ear and sinus issue which oddly seems to link to depression.

Hi Everyone,

Those of you who are undiagnosed with dizziness/disequilibrium/loss of balance/blurred vision/osscillopsia try avoiding sleeping on the side where you feel your eye/ear is affected consecutively for 2 weeks (without any break) and see if you feel better. Also avoid bending down or any chores that requires shaking of your head (even washing dishes, cutting vegetables, car rides etc). It could be vestibular nerve comprression. This measures helped me and I was undiagnosed for 3 years. First see the doc. Make sure an MRI & CT scan of your brain is negative as you need to rule out serious illness. Anxiety is a normal response if you have an undiagnosed illness as you are scared.

This is what I am currently dealing with. I have had sinus problems for as long as I can remember. I am dealing with a throbbing, constricting feeling at the back base of my skull which radiates throughout my head. I can't drive at night because My sensory is overloaded. All I want to do is lay my head down and give up. I'm constantly depressed, It also inhibits me from doing my job to 100%. My vision is always wonky. It's like looking through misshaped glass. Every once in a while my vision will become normal but only temporarily.

ER visits get me Doctors telling me it's panic attacks, and i should stop wasting their time. A year ago It god bad enough that I started feeling faint. I don't get nausea, just everything else.

Thank you so much for sharing this information. I deal with almost all of these symptoms on a daily basis with my migraines. It's good to have something to share with others who doubt me.

I know when im about to get one cos i see this stupid little light that wont go away no matter what i look at. Then it starts to grow i to a circle that gets wider and wider. If i dont get some bc powder in me fast before it passes my peripheral vision the pain is massive. The bc powder dont stop it but makes it not so bad

Irlen filters have cured my silent migraines.  I have had ear pain, jaw pain, nasal blockage/stuffiness, eye pressure, runny note, and the bad taste and smells.   I put on my Irlen filters and the migraines have gone away and my the ear pressure and nasal stuffiness are gone.  The ear ringing has also disappeared.  It is LIGHT SENSITIVITY! Please take this advice seriously!
